《沼泽猎手 Swamp People》第12-13季讲述路易斯安那州的捕猎鳄鱼季又开始了，这个赛季将持续30天时间，在这期间沼泽猎手将遵循着大约 300 年前的古法捕猎传统，在野生动物法的严格监管下，依靠经验和天气变化，捕捉鳄鱼并获得数量可观的年收入。
为了保护生态平衡，每个猎人都会获得一定数量的标签，这些标签必须贴在猎物上；一旦标签用完，就意味着本季节的任务完成了，并且在本季节的剩余时间内不再捕杀任何鳄鱼。当地的沼泽猎手（鳄鱼猎人）只有抓紧在这30天内获取全年的收入，这也是他们主要的经济来源之一。在此之前，一些猎人的收入都是靠捕杀鳄鱼来赚取的，现在动物保护规范之后，一年就只有这一次机会。如果错过了，就只能在剩下的时间里捕获其他物种（鱼、小龙虾、虾、螃蟹、浣熊、海龟等）以增加他们的收入，但这和捕捉鳄鱼比起来相差甚远。所以沼泽猎手们最终目标就是在季节结束前完成全年的任务。
